Knowledge Management (KM) comprises a range of strategies and practices used by MILE to identify, create, represent, distribute, and enable adoption of insights and experiences. Such insights and experiences comprise knowledge, either embodied in individuals or embedded in local government processes or practice.

MILE has dedicated resources to its internal KM efforts. Our KM efforts focus on certain objectives such as good practice, innovation, the sharing of lessons learned, integration and continuous improvement of the Municipality. These KM efforts overlap with creating a learning organization, and may be distinguished from that by a greater focus on the management of knowledge as a strategic asset and a focus on encouraging the sharing of knowledge.

It is anticipated that our KM efforts will help individuals and groups to, for example, share valuable insights and retain intellectual capital. Knowledge management has become a cornerstone in MILE.
