In 2019 Durban became the first African city to produce a Climate Action Plan (CAP) that is aligned to the objectives set out in the Paris Agreement. The plan outlines a pathway for the City to transition toward climate resilience and carbon neutrality by 2050.
eThekwini Municipality, through its Municipal Institute of Learning (MILE), documented this milestone to produce a Learning Journey that shares challenges and lessons learned during the development of the CAP. It is hoped that this learning journey will be beneficial to cities across the continent who are embarking on a similar journey to project its citizens from a growing climate emergency.
