IDP and Budget, 22-23 July 2010
From the 22nd to
the 23rd of July MILE hosted its first formal Learning Exchange. This
Learning exchange involved local practitioners from the City of
Johannesburg and from eThekwini in the areas of Integrated Development
Planning and Budget Planning.
The sessions were held in Durban
and the dialogue between the two groups of practitioners proved useful
in gaining an understanding of how the different cities have planned for
future development and how they have aligned their budgets with their
respective IDPs.
The team was privileged to be joined by Dr Mike
Sutcliffe on the second day of the exchange. Dr. Sutcliffe provided the
practitioners with a guided tour of the new Moses Mabhida Stadium much
to the delight of the local practitioners. The practitioners were also
taken on a guided walking tour of Warwick Junction by Hoosen Moolla,
head of iTRUMP.
It is hoped that the municipalities will remain
in contact and that continued dialogue will enhance the future
development of both cities.
Thank you to the eThekwini IDP,
Imagine Durban, Finance and iTRUMP departments as well as the delegates
from the City of Johannesburg for making the exchange a success.
