Strategic moves for groovy delegates at uShaka
As delegates stepped onto the Upper Deck of the phantom ship at uShaka Marine World, they reflected on the day’s events, whilst feeling the warm winter breeze only Durban can offer, anticipating a night of superb dining and dancing.

A well deserved night out after the international officials spent Day Two of the UCLG International Learning Exchange taking various site visits and participating in interactive presentations and discussions. Delegates had toured the greater Durban precinct to areas that display economic development or re-development.

After the tour, the officials  spent the afternoon session focusing on topics such as, Strategic Planning as a tool for economic transformation, spatial transformation and financing implementation.

Olga Rasamimanana, a general secretary from the Municipality of Antananarivo in Madagascar was deeply interested in the topics discussed. She said, “I think all the topics were very interesting, especially for my municipality since we don’t have a city strategy plan. Now we can implement a city strategic plan from what we have learnt here. We hope to have a partnership with all the cities present to share and learn from each other.”

Following the afternoon’s discussions, the next stop was the African Art Centre on Florida Road where delegates had the opportunity to purchase quality African arts and craft, before the social event at Ushaka Marine World.
