eThekwini-University Research Committee Formalised
“Timely,” “science of complexity,” “sharing of intellectual capital” were some of the sentiments mentioned at the recent formalisation of the historic City-University Research Committee, facilitated by the Municipal Institute of Learning (MILE).

The purpose of the committee is to drive a mutually beneficial research agenda for improved municipal service delivery, as well as highlight relevant research areas for universities to undertake.

Members of the committee include mandated representatives from relevant university research directorates of Durban University of Technology (DUT), Mangosuthu University of Technology (MUT), the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) and eThekwini Municipality.

MILE project manager, Collin Pillay said, “The adoption of defined terms of reference creates the space for a more constructive engagement within a knowledge-based economy. Herein lies the challenge for all partners and MILE, who looks forward to facilitating this invaluable collaborative process.”
