MILE Exposes University Partners to International Networks
The Municipal Institute of Learning (MILE) has successfully facilitated a meeting between the NAANDI organisation and the Durban University of Technology (DUT), University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) and the Mangosuthu University of Technology (MUT) at the MILE offices recently.
NAANDI is an organisation in India that works with local farmers on food production and provides nourishing food schemes for unpriveldged school children across India, contributing towards sustainable livelihoods.

Professor Bawa, the Vice Chancellor of DUT emphasised the need for youth to get more involved in agricultural development and possibly see themselves hasemerging farmers and entrepreneurs.

Professor AF Lana from MUT’s Institute for Rural Development and Community Engagement (IRDCE) was enthused with the Mid-Day Meal Programmethat NAANDI coordinatedin India and took a deep interest in their Early Childhood Development Programmes.

NAANDI was impressed withthe inputs made by ProfessorChris Buckley,the Head of the Pollution and Research Group (PRG)at UKZN, and innovations in sanitation and its contribution to agriculture.

Prof.Buckley was keen to forge links between NAANDI and another organisation in India, Bremen Overseas Research and Development Association (BORDA) an establishment active in the field of sanitation. Prof. Buckley was recently appointed R&D Co-ordinator for the BORDA partner network.
MILE will strive to continue to establish links between our university partners and international networks.
