City hosts fifth Water and Sanitation Master Class
Experts at the eThekwini Municipality’s Water and Sanitation Unit (EWS) stunned practitioners who attended the fifth Master Class on Water and Sanitation with their hi-tech infrastructure and advance technology they displayed throughout the duration of the course.
Over 45 participants from municipalities across South Africa and African from countries such as Ethiopia and Mozambique attended the three day Master Class which was jam- packed with exciting site visits and expert facilitation.
Participants were impressed with the Master Class and the innovation that was showcased during the sessions.
“The Master Class adds extra knowledge to fill the gap I have in my job,” said an enthused participant.
Each day saw participants tackling informative modules and seeing firsthand the type of structures eThekwini has in place with the EWS department always clinching top awards.
They were taken on site visits to Newlands, Mzinyathi, DEWATS plant and community Gardens, Tongaat Treatment Works and the Tongaat Waste Water Treatment Works to see the various water and sanitation projects executed by the Municipality.
The final day concluded with a visit to the EWS Department where participants saw the call centre development and learnt how they operate and the efficiency of the process.
Participants left the Water and Sanitation Master Class inspired to make positive changes in the water sector within their municipalities.
