City to City Learning Exchange: Exploring The eThekwini Municipality Informal Economy and Tourism
The eThekwini Municipality Business Support and Markets Unit  in partnership with MILE hosted a learning exchange from 7-10 July with the Manzini City Council from Swaziland and the KwaDukuza Municipality from the Ilembe District on Informal Economy and Tourism.  ​
 
This is the ninth Informal Economy learning event hosted by MILE and it saw 22 delegates consisting of City Officials and Informal Traders eager to learn more about how the eThekwini Informal Economy works. 
 
During day one participants explored the various perspectives on informal economy and the contexts of informal trade at local government level.
 
Participants spent day two of the Learning Exchange on site visits to the famous markets in Durban which exposed them to real learning about markets. 
 
The Learning Exchange provided participant’s with the platform to share and learn using eThekwini Municipality as a case study.
