City provides Post-Graduate Support for officials
As most institutions wind-down for the year, more than 90 eThekwini officials donned their “academic hats” to become active participants in a Post Graduate Support Workshop, held on 2-3 December 2015 at Springfield Training Centre.

The two-day workshop, encouraged by eThekwini Municipal Academy (EMA), is part of a support program customised to provide much needed guidance to eThekwini officials who are either considering, undertaking or completing their Masters or Doctoral research.  The cohort of enquiring minds were led by an established academic as  the content provided ample space for interactive discussions, participant presentation and opportunities for peer mentorship.

Zimasa Dlamini from eThekwini’s Business Support, Markets and Tourism Unit found the research workshops to be helpful towards her studies.

“If anything, this was the most beneficial workshop I attended this year as I had been battling alone to get going in my  studies – I am indeed appreciative to MILE for making this happen ”, said Dlamini.

Dr. Ngubane, Head of EMA, noted that this program aligns well with the vision of the eThekwini Municipal Academy for an academically qualified workforce. This must be encouraged as more city officials embark on research outputs that contribute to the Durban knowledge economy.
