MILE and ETA tackle racism and diversity in the workplace
The eThekwini Transport Authority (ETA) is grappling with issues of racism and diversity in the workplace hence building a winning culture seems to be a challenge. MILE in partnership with ETA hosted a “Breakfast and Lunch” seminar in an attempt to deal with some of these challenges.
The seminar was hosted on 5 May 2016 at the Durban Botanic Gardens Conference Centre.
MILE secured the services of a renowned thought leader and motivational speaker on the subject matter, Mr. Linda Ntuli to present and facilitate the two sessions. Ntuli has a wealth of experience in advising on issues of prejudice, racism and conflict from diverse teams. The facilitation team led by Ntuli is diverse and multi lingual and brings a wealth of skills in the areas of diversity, transformational team building, workplace conflict resolution, leadership development and values based leadership. The seminar was highly successful and the ETA employees were fairly excited and impressed by the outcome of the seminar.
The methodology and participation used in the seminar ensured that the relevant issues were handled in a humorous and participative way. Participants were exposed to the power of unity in diversity and value based leadership. With their input, they were also exposed to the concept and process of leading diversity as opposed to managing diversity and handling prejudice and racism. They were empowered with options to substantially improve team unity whilst reducing workplace conflict and building respect and ultimately, a winning team.
