MILE Facilitates the Maphumulo Municipality’s Strategic Planning Workshop
Political and Administrative leadership of Maphumulo Municipality were gathered in the Cathedral Peak Hotel - Drakensberg for a strategic planning workshop that took place from the 26th to the 28th of November 2019.

The overall purpose of the session was for the leadership of Maphumulo Municipality to sharpen, enhance and consolidate the common understanding of the developmental reality and challenges of the municipality in order to move towards a commonly shared vision.

As proceedings unfolded, there was a reflection on the status quo, more specifically on demographics, the socio-economic profile, challenges, achievements, available resources and existing strategies. The esteemed participants also worked in their groups to identify the key strategic opportunities, challenges and the underlying causes facing the respective departments in the municipality. Towards the end of the workshop, a draft Action Plan emerged from all the discussions. However, an ACCORD was not signed as some aspects such as the budget were to be finalised at a later stage.

Towards the end of the workshop, Maphumulo Municipality Mayor, Councillor Khuzwayo-Dlamini encouraged all leadership present to work together in their different capacities to improve the lives of the people they serve (people of Maphumulo). MILE was also acknowledged for leading the proceedings in an effective manner.
