Internal Stakeholder Engagement on Green Economy Projects and Programmes
eThekwini Municipality Energy Office and Economic Development Unit in collaboration with Municipal Institute of Learning (MILE) hosted an Internal Stakeholder and Business Unit Engagement Webinar on the  8th of October 2020 on Microsoft Teams. 

The purpose of the Webinar was to streamline eThekwini Municipality’s green economy related initiatives into a coherent platform, before engaging with the private section through the City Business Climate Alliance (CBCA) programme.​

Shunnon Tulsiram, Head of Economic Development and Investment Promotion for EThekwini Municipality welcomed stakeholders to the Webinar, highlighting the importance of having these conversations on the green economy.

Takalani Rathiyaya, Deputy Head of the Municipality's Economic Development Unit presented an overview of the CBCA Programme and broad plan. 

Rathiyaya mentioned the purpose of the Green Economy Framework is to align related initiatives being undertaken within the eThekwini Municipality, as an organisation; align eThekwini Municipality’s initiatives with Business initiatives within the eThekwini Municipal Area; grow the number of Businesses producing green goods and services; grow the number of people employed in the sector; and ensure that existing manufacturing and operations are made green.

Dr. Magash Naidoo, Energy Office  provided the way forward, he stated that the team will start on developing a database of the various projects.

Facilitated by MILE, the Webinar provided the ideal platform for fruitful discussion and engagement.
